Cork, Blarney anbd Rock of Cashel

It was my last excursion. This time, I travelled alone, although I found one of my classmates in Cork, who was visiting a friend. It was also my last sunday (August 19) in the island, so I wanted to spend my free time in southern Ireland, maybe the part of the Island I know the least.

The first stop was Rock of Cashel, an astonishing abbey that Cristina had recommended visiting. The round tower, which dates back to 1100 AD is perhaps the oldest and tallest of the buildings. It also has different chapels and a cathedral,  built between 1235 and 1270.

Next stop was Cork. I did not know this city and in fact I had no time to visit it properly, although I got a good impression.

Finally we visited Blarney Castle, which dates from before 1200. This fortification is famous for the Eloquence Stone, also known as the the Blarney stone, that must be kissed (every tourist does it) to get the gift of the gab (great eloquence or skill at flattery).
